5 tips for feeding in public

Breastfeeding at home is usually comfortable. You're in your own comfortable environment and can sit however you like. But breastfeeding in public can be a bit more challenging and perhaps even awkward. Where do you sit? How do you undress subtly? Who can see what? These can be things you're unsure about. We completely understand! That's why, in this blog post, we're sharing 5 practical tips for breastfeeding in public.

1. Choose the right nursing bra
It all starts with a well-fitting nursing bra . Make sure you have a bra that's comfortable, fits well, and provides easy access to your breasts. Try different styles and sizes to find the perfect nursing bra for you.

2. Practice at home
Before you breastfeed in public, practice wearing your nursing bra at home. It might be a bit more relaxing and comfortable than immediately going out in public :) By practicing a bit, you'll get used to the closures and opening the cups. This can be a bit fiddly when you're also holding your baby.

3. Choose the right clothes
Choose clothes that open easily to your breasts. Special nursing shirts are available, of course, but a loose-fitting top, blouse, button-down cardigan, or button-down dress also work well. These clothes make nursing easier, and you can still dress in your own style.

4. Use a nursing scarf or shawl
If you want to feel extra secure while breastfeeding in public, use a (nursing) scarf or wrap. These can help create some privacy while still allowing your baby to nurse comfortably.

5. Find a comfortable place
If you're still a little nervous or uneasy about breastfeeding in public, choose a quiet and comfortable spot. For example, a corner of a café, a quiet park bench, or ask if there's a separate area for breastfeeding. Of course, you don't have to do all of this if you're completely comfortable, but sometimes it can help you feel more at ease.
