Maternity leave, what now?

Finally, it's here: maternity leave. The last few weeks of work are practically impossible; it's getting too much, and you quickly get exhausted. So, maternity leave comes at just the right time. But then... you suddenly have a lot of free time. What can you do? And what's fun? Read on!

- Clean up
Now that the baby is almost here, you're probably feeling the urge to nest. Everything has to be taken care of down to the last detail, and nothing can be forgotten. That's why this one is a pretty obvious one. Start tidying everything up and take it easy. Take one chore at a time.

- Baby room

Now that we're talking about tidying up, why not get everything in its place in the baby's room? Wash and iron all the clothes. And don't forget to organize the wardrobe; this is one of the most enjoyable chores. Half of them were most likely donated by family and friends. This way, you can take a closer look and discover that you have much more clothes for your baby than you initially realized.

While you're organizing the closet, it might also be a good idea to start choosing the first clothes your baby will wear. You can then pack these in your hospital bag.

-Shopping

We all know that feeling: you think you've got everything you need, and then suddenly something's missing from the nursery, or you saw something online that needs to be delivered today. And how wonderful is it to be on maternity leave and just go into town?

And don't forget yourself while shopping...

- Sleeping & chilling

A quick tip: Sleep in while you still can. Watch the shows you've always wanted to see and just chill out for a bit. This needs to be said. Soon, your baby will finally be here after a nine-month wait. But this also means you'll be "on" 24/7 and won't get much rest in the beginning.

A few more fun things to do during your pregnancy:

  • Write your birth announcements now
  • Create a mood board
  • Find a new hobby
  • Create photo albums
